First photos of Lili Simmons as Selina in the Gotham finale released

Lili Simmons will be taking over the role of Selina Kyle for the Gotham Series finale. While Camren Bicondova shared the news following last week’s episode of Gotham, Entertainment Weekly ran the first picture of Simmons in character.

As has been known for ages now, the final episode of Gotham will jump ahead 10 years and show us what happens to the city. At the end of the penultimate episode, Bruce (David Mazouz) left Gotham to begin his training to become Batman. In the final episode, he will return after 10 years for the opening of the new Wayne Tower, and Selina is sure to have some thoughts on his having disappeared for a decade.

Although Bicondova had played Selina from the opening moments of the first episode of the series, she made the decision to skip the final episode due to the time jump. “I wanted to give (the character) Selina Kyle as much respect as possible,” she said in her statement. “Some will say that giving her respect would include seeing the character through to the end of the show, which I understand. But I firmly believe that part of leaving a legacy and being part of a legacy means knowing when to pass the torch to someone else.”

Simmons has a large television resume with parts in Ray Donovan, The Purge TV series, Westworld, and more.

The final episode of Gotham, “The Beginning,” will air on the Fox network in the U.S. on April 25.
