The newest Pennyworth trailer finally revealed when we can expect to see the series making its debut on Epix.
Mark your calendars for July 28 to experience the adventures of Alfred Pennyworth just as he is meeting Thomas Wayne. The time period of the series is even before Thomas has married Martha, so don’t expect to see a young Bruce running around underfoot.
2019 is proving to be an interesting year for Batman characters. It’s not entirely clear that the world needed an Alfred origin series, but the more we see of it, the more intrigued we become. And did anyone ever think that we needed to see a Joker movie with no Batman in it? It’s proving to be a definite testing of the waters to see how the characters that surround Batman due without the Caped Crusaders presence in a story. If both these projects do well, the possibilities are pretty limitless as to what could come next.
From Warner Horizon Scripted Television, DC origin story Pennyworth is a ten-episode, one-hour drama series based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), Bruce’s billionaire father, in 1960’s London.
Pennyworth will debut on Epix on July 28.
