It appears that Portuguese actress Daniela Melchior may be landing the role of Ratcatcher in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
According to sources speaking with Variety, Melchior is currently in talks for the genderswapped Ratcatcher in The Suicide Squad. This is the last of the major roles without an actor attached, so it appears that Gunn may be wrapping up his key casting.
While fairly unknown in the U.S., the 22-year-old Melchior has a fair amount of work on her resume, especially on television. She was most recently seen in the film, Parque Mayer that released in 2018.
Melchior would be the most recent new addition to The Suicide Squad. David Dastmalchian has joined up as Polka-Dot Man, John Cena is rumored for Peacemaker, and it’s still up in the air who Idris Elba will be playing. Seeing as James Gunn is favoring the John Ostrander run of the series, speculation is high on Bronze Tiger.
As for returning cast from 2016’s Suicide Squad include Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and possibly Joel Kinnaman as Flagg.
The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
