We can stop saying ‘reportedly’ when it comes to David Dastmalchian playing Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor confirmed it himself.

Speaking about numerous projects he’s involved in such as Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming Dune adaptation, Dastmalchain was asked about his involvement in The Suicide Squad, and apparently he had just heard the news himself. You can jump ahead to about the 6 minute and 14 second mark in the video below to hear it.

We won’t hold it against Dastmalchian that he isn’t familiar with Polka-Dot Man, we’re sure he’s about to get a huge education on the villain.

We’ve heard rumors of numerous actors in talks for the film, but he is the first we’ve heard any sort of definitive information on. John Cena is rumored for Peacemaker, while Daniela Melchior is rumored for a genderwapped Ratcatcher. and it’s still up in the air who Idris Elba will be playing. Seeing as James Gunn is favoring the John Ostrander run of the series, speculation is high on Bronze Tiger.

As for returning cast from 2016’s Suicide Squad include Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and possibly Joel Kinnaman as Flagg.

Hopefully we’ll start hearing some more concrete information in the coming weeks, or possibly at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
