After months of speculation, it appears that Robert Pattinson has indeed landed the role of Batman in Matt Reeves upcoming The Batman.
According to sources speaking with Variety, Pattinson is currently in talks to take on the role of Batman in The Batman. There is no word yet on when the official announcement will be made, but it’s sounding as though the talks are fairly advanced.
It is believed that Reeves is still working on polishing the script, but he has some time still as Pattinson has another big film on the horizon. He is currently scheduled to star in Christopher Nolan’s untitled next film co-starring John David Washington. That film is scheduled for a July 17, 2020 release.
As this story was developing, Deadline began reporting the deal may not be as done as was first reported. According to their sources, it’s down to Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Dark Phoenix), but that Pattinson does indeed hold the edge.
It looks as though the race may not be quite as over as we thought when this evening began, but the finish line does indeed appear to be in sight.
Pre-production is expected to begin on The Batman this summer with a release date scheduled for June 25, 2021.
