Drew Van Acker appears to be joining the cast of Titans season 2, and thanks to some detective work it appears he is going to be Aqualad.
Van Acker shared to his Instagram a post mentioning Titans.
Following that post, the Titans Facebook Group put together that it appeared he was playing Aqualad. The Geeks WorldWide – which was the source of the rumor Aqualad would even be in the show – confirmed with its sources that he is indeed playing the character.
As to which version of the character he will be playing, it has been confirmed that he will be playing the original Garth who was one of the founding members of the Titans in the comic series.
Van Acker is best known for the role of Jason DiLaurentis on Pretty Little Liars. He also was in the Training Day TV series, Devious Maids and more.
With his addition to the series, this adds some weight to the rumors that Aquagirl will be coming to the series as well. This also, again, makes us a bit concerned for how crowded this series is becoming with characters. Titans season 2 so far is adding Esai Morales as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke, Chella Man will play his son Jericho, and Chelsea T. Zhang will take on the role of Rose Wilson. And, of course, Iain Glen has joined as Bruce Wayne and Joshua Orpin as Connor Kent coming on board as well.
Not to mention you still have Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), Koriand’r (Anna Diop), Rachel (Teagan Croft), Gar (Ryan Potter), Jason Todd (Curran Walters), Dawn (Minka Kelly), Hank (Alan Ritchson, and Donna (Conor Leslie) running around.
That is a lot of characters for any show to manage. We love seeing as many DC characters as possible on TV, but it’s also a cause for a bit of concern as well.
Titans season 2 will debut this fall on DC Universe in the U.S. and on Netflix in other markets.
