Super Pets movie moves back one year to 2022

Super-Pets - Animated - 01

It seems that the DC Super Pets felt they would be no match for the killing skills of John Wick.

John Wick Chapter 4 was announced this week to hit theaters on May 21, 2021. If that date sounds familiar, it’s because that was the release date for DC Super Pets up until recently. Warner Bros. has now announced that it is moving the film back a full year to May 22, 2022.

While Warner Bros. did not specifically call out John Wick Chapter 4 as the reason, the timing certainly makes you wonder if there was a connection. Animation is not an easy medium to be sure, and that could have contributed as well.

No other DC-related films for 2021 were moved. The Batman remains at June 25, 2021 and The Suicide Squad is set for Aug. 6, 2021.

DC Super Pets has typically featured the likes Batman’s dog, Ace the Bat-Hound; Superman’s dog, Krypto; and Supergirl’s cat, Streaky with other pets rotating through various incarnations.
