It seems that now that we have the Robert Pattinson is Batman rumors settled, it’s time to turn to the Rogues Gallery that will appear in The Batman.
For about as long as Matt Reeves has been involved with The Batman we’ve been hearing that the film would feature multiple villains. Penguin and Catwoman have been ‘confirmed’ for some time in that they are the two most frequently linked to the story. The Geeks WorldWide – which is racking up a pretty impressive track record for accuracy as of late – is reporting that the Riddler and Firefly are also in the mix for the story.
TGWW also provided a casting break down of what Reeves is reportedly looking for out of each character.
- The Riddler – Any ethnicity, between the ages of 30 and 40.
- The Penguin – Any ethnicity, between the ages of 20 and 40.
- Catwoman – Any ethnicity, between the ages of 20 and 30.
- Firefly – Any ethnicity, between the ages of 20 and 30.
Numerous reports over the past year or so have said we may see as many as six villains, so don’t rule out a few more being added in the coming months.
Reports have indicated that the film will see Batman going from villain to villain to interrogate them and get clues that will lead him to the next. And this will culminate in him confronting the main villain in the film who has masterminded everything. It’s beginning to sound a bit like the storyline for Batman: Hush, just minus the character of Hush.
Filming on The Batman is said to begin in early 2020, so we should see some casting taking shape in the next few months.
The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
