There have been rumors that Titans season 2 would be adding Lex Luthor to the mix, but it appears that is a done deal now. Mercy Graves will be there to help threaten the Titans.

Natalie Gumede has been cast as Lex Luthor’s bodyguard and right-hand woman, Mercy Graves. Originally introduced in Superman: The Animated Series, Mercy made the leap to the comics in 1999.

The Titans producers describe this iteration as:

Mercy Graves is the ruthless, cunning, right hand and bodyguard to the notorious Lex Luthor – serving her boss with unquestioned loyalty. Her connection to the Luthors runs deep, as Mercy has been a friend of the family and in Lex’s life since they were young.

So it sounds as though she will follow what we know pretty closely.

Gumede is best known globally as playing Ashley in the 2014 Doctor Who Christmas Special. She recently starred in the 10-episode ITV series Jekyll & Hyde, and she also currently stars in Free Rein.

Still no word on who will be playing Lex Luthor, but that information is probably coming sooner rather than later.

With Gumede’s addition to the series, it seems this cast knows no bounds in size. Titans season 2 so far is adding Esai Morales as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke, Chella Man will play his son Jericho, and Chelsea T. Zhang will take on the role of Rose Wilson. And, of course, Iain Glen has joined as Bruce Wayne, Joshua Orpin as Connor Kent, and Drew Van Acker as Aqualad.

Not to mention you still have Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), Koriand’r (Anna Diop), Rachel (Teagan Croft), Gar (Ryan Potter), Jason Todd (Curran Walters), Dawn (Minka Kelly), Hank (Alan Ritchson, and Donna (Conor Leslie) running around.

That is a lot of characters for any show to manage. We love seeing as many DC characters as possible on TV, but it’s also a cause for a bit of concern as well.

Titans season 2 will debut this fall on DC Universe in the U.S. and on Netflix in other markets.
