Zachary Levi is having a heck of a run of success lately, and it appears it’s not slowing down any time soon.
Out promoting his hosting duties for the MTV Movie & TV Awards to be held on June 17, Levi is basking in the glow of his success. From joining the cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to starring in Shazam!, it seems as though he has been everywhere. Now, attention turns to the next installment of Shazam!, and it appears the film is not far off from beginning work.
Speaking with the Associated Press, Levi said that Shazam! 2 is currently being written and that everyone is looking to start filming in late spring or early summer of next year.
This projected date is also intriguing due to when Black Adam is supposedly going to be shooting. Dwayne Johnson said in April that the film should begin shooting “within a year.” Should both of these schedules be correct, it sounds as though these two films could be filming at close to the same time or even simultaneously. It seems just a little too coincidental when these characters are sworn enemies.
Of course, where this theory could fall apart slightly is how would Warner Bros. work the release of two such similar movies that would theoretically be ready for release so close together.
It sounds as though if you’re a fan of Shazam that you have a lot to be looking forward to for some time to come.
Shazam! will be released digitally on July 2, and on Blu-ray and 4K on July 16.
