Ezra Miller’s Flash movie may not be dead just quite yet.
Variety’s Power of Pride List for 2019 featured Ezra Miller, and along with his photo came a short blurb about hit current projects.
Miller, who plays the ultra-swift superhero The Flash, will get his DC Universe stand alone film as soon as he wraps up his work on the ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off series ‘Fantastic Beasts.
We will note that this has been an assumption for some time now since it was announced that filming on the third Fantastic Beasts was being delayed. The last thing we heard on the Flash movie was that Miller had actually started on a new script with comic writer Grant Morrison. There was, however, a big issue facing everyone involved as Miller’s contract was reportedly due to expire in May of this year if an extension wasn’t added.
There has been no word on if Miller has turned in this script or if his contract was extended.
Fantastic Beasts filming has been pushed to spring 2020 for a 2021 release date. The earliest Miller could possibly start shooting a Flash movie at that stage would be late 2020. This would then push the release of that film to either late 2021 or, more than likely, early 2022.
For now, we are recommending that you take this blurb in this list as just that, a blurb. While Variety is a well-respected trade, it could still be working off of dated information. Seeing as this is the only mention in months, however, it is at least something to possibly give us a clue.
