James Gunn is assembling his crew for his upcoming The Suicide Squad film. The latest to reportedly join the production is cinematographer Henry Braham.
The report is brief to be sure and comes from a tweet from Discussing Film.
Braham and Gunn worked together previously on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He has also worked on The Legend of Tarzan, The Golden Compass, and just finished up on Disney’s upcoming Maleficent: Mistress of Evil amongst other projects.
Besides Braham, Gunn has also brought on Beth Mickle as production designer, someone he was scheduled to work with on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 before he was let go by Marvel Studios. Seeing as that film is now back on the docket, she may join him there again as well.
With production reportedly set to begin in September, we expect to be hearing a lot more crew announcements in the near future.
The cast of The Suicide Squad seems to be on in flux at the moment as we await official word on numerous cast members. Currently, Margot Robbie is rumored, but not confirmed, to return as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman looks to be returning as Flagg, and word is that Viola Davis will also reprise her role as Amanda Waller.
As to new characters, David Dastmalchian is confirmed as Polka-Dot Man, Daniela Melchior is rumored for a genderswapped Ratcatcher, and we still have no clear indication who Idris Elba is playing. A new rumor, however, points to his character having a daughter, so that narrows down the field a bit. And the final new character rumor has Benicio del Toro possibly up for the role of the film’s villain.
The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
