Warner Bros. has made it quite clear it’s not doing a big Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con this year, but it seems you won’t be able to escape it in every corner of the show.
From a never-ending stream of DC-themed exclusives, to a full-on Batman Experience, Warner Bros. is going to be everywhere. And some of it you won’t even need a Comic-Con pass to enjoy. Epix has announced that it is turning an area of the historic San Diego Gaslamp District into a 1960s London recreation to promote its upcoming Pennyworth series.
Fans wanting to visit the area will be presented with a challenge to figure out a password. Once they have they will be allowed into the Velvet Rope, a high-society London lounge that will play a role in the series. You will also find a library that serves as the headquarters of the mysterious Raven Society, and you will then pass through to their dungeon where evil deeds take place.
You will find the Pennyworth experience inside the Oxford Social Club at the Pendry San Diego Hotel. It will be open from 11am to 5pm on July 18, and 10am to 7PM on July 19 and July 20. The pilot episode of Pennyworth will be shown during the Warner Bros. Television Group presentation in Ballroom 20 on July 17. A Q&A panel will also be held on July 19 at 4:30pm in Room 6BCF.
Pennyworth will debut on Epix on July 28.
