The Kitchen trailer – The women go to war

The final The Kitchen trailer has been released, and it looks as though the women are going to have to to go to war.

Based on a Vertigo comic or not, we have to say this movie has our attention. 1970s New York City is always an amazing setting for movies, and it looks as though this one is completely embracing it. Add in three amazing actresses in the lead roles, and we’re definitely all in on this one.

New York City, 1978. The 20 blocks of pawnshops, porn palaces and dive bars between 8th Avenue and the Hudson River owned by the Irish mafia and known as Hell’s Kitchen was never the easiest place to live. Or the safest. But for mob wives Kathy, Ruby and Claire–played by Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moss–things are about to take a radical, dramatic turn. When their husbands are sent to prison by the FBI the women take business into their own hands, running the rackets and taking out the competition…literally.

Now they own the neighborhood.

The original Vertigo comic was by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle and began its run in 2014.

The new Warner Bros. film stars Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids), Tiffany Haddish (Night School), Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker).

The Kitchen hits theaters on Aug. 9.
