Brandon Routh will once again be putting on the Superman costume as Crisis on Infinite Earths comes to the Arrowverse shows.
Deadline reported on Friday morning that Routh will suit up as Superman for the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths event. This was then confirmed by Routh himself shortly after the news broke. “Honored, humbled, grateful, and still pinching myself,” said the actor in a tweet.

Routh may play Ray Palmer/The Atom now, but he played Superman in Bryan Singer’s 2006 Superman Returns film. He is clearly familiar with the weight that comes with playing this role.
Those that follow the Arrowverse shows will be aware that this mini-universe already has a Superman in Tyler Hoechlin. Not to fear, however, he will also be returning for the crossover as the Man of Steel. Apparently, the plan calls for them to both play the role. With the premise of this crossover, this is an easy explanation that Routh is simply the Superman from a different Earth.
The CW will be hosting an Arrowverse panel on Saturday night at San Diego Comic-Con where the formal announcement of this news is expected to be made.
