As production nears for The Batman, casting rumors are beginning to bubble up even more rapidly. The latest has Jamie Foxx and Giancarlo Esposito currently on Matt Reeves shortlist.
According to The Geeks WorldWide – which has an excellent track record when it comes to casting rumors – both Foxx and Esposito are currently on the shortlist with Reeves for a major role in The Batman. It isn’t clear if they are both being considered for the same role, but the only villain mentioned so far has been The Riddler.
Foxx is known for numerous roles, but most notably for Quention Tarantino‘s Django Unchained and the Ray Charles biopic, Ray. Esposito is best known as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He also has a role in the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series, The Mandalorian.
This is just the latest rumor when it comes to casting The Batman. Recently it was rumored that John David Washington may be up for Harvey Dent, and before that was rumors of Vanessa Kirby as Catwoman. The only cast member that is set in stone at this point is Robert Pattinson, but it definitely seems that news of villain casting could come at any moment now.
The Batman is due to begin filming in early 2020 with a release set for June 25, 2021.
