Birds of Prey reshoots begin around Los Angeles

Birds of Prey is back on the streets of Los Angeles to begin its series of reshoots. Over this past weekend the crew was spotted at Hawthorne Mall doing what appears to be some pickup shots for a stunt shoot we saw earlier this year.

In case you can’t quite spot it through all of the fake smoke, this looks like the scene where Harley (Margot Robbie) is crouching down and ‘skating’ while holding on to Black Mask’s (Ewan McGregor) car. It appears that there are two “Harleys” on set, so you would imagine one is Robbie and the other is her stunt double.

It’s unclear how long the reshoots are planned for, but we do know that John Wick director Chad Stahelski has joined the film to design some new stunts. Depending on the complexity of the stunts, there’s no telling how long the additional photography will be.

Reshoots are a normal part of the film making process on larger budget films, and it the video from this weekend is any indication, it looks to more like pickup shots to add additional reactions and angles.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will be the first appearance of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn since Suicide Squad. She will be joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as the Huntress, while Jurnee Smollett-Bell will be playing Black Canary. Rosie Perez will be playing Renee Montoya, and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain as well. And Ewan McGregor joined the cast as Gotham City villain Black Mask.

The Birds of Prey movie is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
