Christian Bale says Robert Pattinson should just ignore the naysayers

It must have been an odd Toronto International Film Festival for Christian Bale. He was there to promote his new movie, Ford v Ferrari, and everyone wants to talk to you about Batman.

As it was Bale’s first real public appearances since Robert Pattinson was announced as the lead in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, so he probably expected it.

Speaking to Extra at the film festival, Bale was asked what advice he had for Pattinson taking on the role. “Good for him. Just make it his own, don’t listen to the naysayers,” said Bale. “That’s about it, everybody protested when Heath [Ledger] was cast as the Joker. Look what an absolutely brilliant performance he gave. Don’t listen to those guys, do his own thing. He’s a fascinating actor, he’s a great choice.”

Bale has been very enthusiastic in his comments about Pattinson taking on the role, and it’s always good to see actors supporting one another. In a role such as this, there is a bit of the handing of the baton to see how well someone can run the next leg. And as of right now, it appears that Pattinson is building a cheering section.

The Batman hits theaters on June 25, 2021.
