It seems we may not be done with residents of Star City quite yet.
It has been revealed that during Arrow‘s final season, a backdoor pilot will be included focusing on Mia Smoak (Katherine McNamara), Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy). Showrunner Beth Schwartz, Marc Guggenheim, Jill Blankenship, and Oscar Balderrama are taking on the writing duties for the episode. Should it move to series, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will serve as executive producers.
It has long been rumored that another Arrowverse series would ste in to take the place of Arrow, and it would more than likely be a direct spinoff. This would not only allow for familiarity, but it also would save some costs in costuming, sets, and so on.
Currently all of the Arrowverse series are in production for the upcoming seasons and working towards the massive Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. Should this new series move forward, it would bring the number of Arrowverse series, assuming all current series are renewed, back up to five: Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, The Flash, and the unnamed spinoff. It’s still unclear if Black Lightning is merging into the Arrowverse or not, but it would make a sixth series if that is the eventual resolution of the Crisis.
More than likely we imagine that this series will move forward, we’ll just have to wait to see what its eventual title is.
