With Tom Welling returning to the role of Clark Kent from Smallville, and Erica Durance reprising Lois Lane for the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, it was inevitable eyes would turn elsewhere. Would Michael Rosenbaum return to the role of Smallville‘s Lex Luthor?

Sadly, he will not. Rosenbaum took to his Twitter on Tuesday to clear up the situation. “Friends, many of you have tweeted and asked me about joining the Infinite Crossover,” said Rosenbaum. “I can’t tell you how much this means to me. I’ll just be straight up about this. [Warner Bros.] called my agents Friday afternoon when I was in Florida visiting my grandfather in a nursing home. Their offer: No Script. No idea what I’m doing. No idea when I’m shooting. Basically no money. And the real kick in the ass “We have to know now.” My simple answer was “Pass”.” Rosenbaum concluded by saying, “I think you can understand why. I hope this answers all of your questions. Lovingly, Rosenbaum.”

This crossover is beginning to reach the bursting point with how many characters will be appearing. All five series – Arrow, Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and The Flash – will be involved. It will also be split over the winter break. Supergirl will kick things off on Dec. 8, Batwoman will follow on Dec 9, and The Flash will air on Dec. 10.

Things will then pick back up on Jan. 14 with Arrow, and will wrap up with Legends of Tomorrow on the same night.
