Funko Games bringing tabletop Funkoverse to NYCC 2019 ahead of release

Funko’s Pop! vinyl figures are a world-dominating product line, and now the company is aiming to bring that distinct aesthetic to tabletop gaming. Funkoverse promises “four exciting game scenarios,” and will launch with DC Comics, Harry Potter, Golden Girls, and Rick and Morty.

You can get details on gameplay below, but as with any game, I don’t think you’ll know exactly what to think until you’ve played it. The cynical take would be that Funkoverse is just another avenue for selling people on the Pop! brand, but I’m willing to withhold judgment until I try for myself. And I’ll be walking away from New York with a copy of the DC version of the game to evaluate, so stay tuned. We try to sell you straight here at Batman News—if it’s good, I’ll tell you, and if it’s not, I’ll tell you that, too.

Here’s that gameplay video I promised:

What do you think? As I said, we should probably try it first, but does this seem like something you would want to play? Let us know in the comments, and be sure to check back after NYCC for a comprehensive look at Funkoverse.
