Batwoman actress Ruby Rose has revealed that she underwent emergency surgery a few months ago as she was facing paralysis.
“To everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck… A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed,” Rose explained. “I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord. I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms.”
From the sounds of when this took place, the injury was not due to her work as Batwoman. The first season was not in production at that time, and she had wrapped her work on the Elseworlds crossover some time ago.
Please note the video is sensitive due to surgery, viewer discretion is advised.
If you’re curious as to why Rose would post such graphic video, she said, “To anyone asking why I let them video it. Did you not watch that Grey’s Anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient?? Also, I wanted to see what happens when we go under.”
Batwoman will debut on The CW on Oct. 6 at 8pm Eastern.
