Joker takes in $13.3 million from Thursday previews

The first box office numbers in for Joker, and it has already set a record.

Warner Bros. is reporting that Joker took in $13.3 million from its Thursday preview showings, setting a new record for October previews. It beat the previous record-holder, Venom, which took in $10 million during Thursday previews in Oct. 2018.

Going into Friday where all theaters that have booked the film will be running it, it is scheduled for 4,374 screens around North America. The target is Venom’s opening record of $80.3 million, which Joker looks set to easily surpass.

With word of mouth being stong, and an award under its belt from the Venice Film Festival, it’s going to be an interesting weekend for the film.
