UPDATE: HBO Max has now released an official synopsis of the series. It is a comedy.
DC Super Hero High is a half-hour comedy series executive produced by Elizabeth Banks (Charlie’s Angels, Pitch Perfect, Shrill), which follows a group of students experiencing the fun and drama of adolescence at a boarding school for gifted kids. These teens are just trying to navigate the pressures of high school, but none of them realize that someday they will become legendary DC Super Heroes.
Original post follows.
As HBO Max made its announcements on Tuesday, it broke series down by age ranges, and amongst the teen announcements was another DC series: DC Superhero High.
Not a lot was said about the series other than we will be seeing our favorite DC characters as teens going to high school together. Could this be Riverdale with superpowers? We just don’t know yet.
Warner Bros. has a knack for reimagining properties as younger versions in school. Just go back and look at Tiny Toon Adventures from the 1990s.
As it stands right now, this series could be going in any number of directions from comedy to teen drama. We’ll just have to wait and see what else is announced about it, but we’re definitely interested in seeing younger versions of our favorite characters.
