Joker had another great weekend around the world as it inches to an ever higher gross.
For its fifth weekend, Joker took in $37 million at the foreign box office to bring its foreign total up to $634.4 million. Domestically it landed in second place for the weekend and took in $13.92 million to bring its North American total to $299.61 million. This brings the grand total up to $934 million off of an estimated budget of $55 to $70 million.
As predicted, Terminator: Dark Fate did take the top spot, but it was nothing to crow about. The latest installment in the Terminator franchise came in with an anemic $29 million off of an estimated budget of $185 to $196 million. Globally it sits at $123.6 million, but nothing to crow about as of yet.
There are multiple wide releases this week – Doctor Sleep, Last Christmas, Midway, and Playing With Fire – so Joker will slip further down the charts. That being said, with the way it’s tracking, it does seem $1 billion is possible in the next two to three weeks. It’s a bit of a race at this juncture, but with it overperforming as it has been, it should still hit the benchmark.
