The Rogues Gallery is going to have to be ready for Batman to take hem down pretty quick and effectively.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Rigan Machado, an 8th-degree red and black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu posted a photo of him and Robert Pattinson working on a move. It was captioned, “Batman is coming.”
Machado has become a common name around Hollywood with training celebrities such as Joe Rogan and Ashton Kutcher. Where general audiences might recognize his name from is in the credits of the John Wick movies. Machado has served as the trainer of Keanu Reeves for that series of films.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art that focuses on grappling and ground fighting to take an opponent down. Once you have them off-balance, it then utilizes chokeholds and joint locks to subdue. It’s a very visual form of fighting as well as being effective, and something we can completely see Batman using.
As this is the first fight training we’ve heard of, it doesn’t mean it’s the only one. Batman has always utilized a wide-range of fighting styles, so don’t be surprised if we hear of further training in other forms of combat.
As the Batman continues to inch ever closer, the cast is filling out with Robert Pattinson as Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, and, most recently, Jeffrey Wright finally being confirmed as Commissioner Gordon.
The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
