A new report indicates that an actor may be getting their big break in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

According to a report from Collider, Reeves has cast Jayme Lawson in The Batman. Ms. Lawson recently graduated from The Juilliard School where she starred in productions such as Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet.

And it appears that she is a big fan of Catwoman and is a role she would someday love to play as stated in a video on her profile page at the school’s site. While she won’t be playing Catwoman thanks to Zoe Kravitz nabbing the role, she’ll at least be in proximity.

As to who she is playing, that is reportedly being kept under wraps for now. Fan speculation is already running to the possibilities of either Barbara Gordon or even Holly Robinson. The former seems more likely if her role is a secret, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

It would appear activity is ramping up on The Batman with rumors hitting just before this that Andy Serkis is in talks to play Alfred. With Jeffrey Wright finally being confirmed as Commissioner Gordon, Colin Farrell reportedly in talks for the Penguin, and Paul Dano officially signed as the Riddler, it looks like all the pieces are falling together. Now we just wait for some confirmation.

The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.

UPDATE: io9 is reporting that she will be playing an original character named Bella, “a grassroots political candidate running for office in Gotham.”
