In a wide-ranging Variety interview between Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lopez, the topic of Batman understandably came up.

Actors interviewing other actors has become a popular format as of late. In this example, Lopez and Pattinson mainly discuss their recent projects before turning to the future. Lopez inquired, “Why Batman?” to which Pattinson replied, “With “Batman,” there was something — I was very focused on it. It kept coming back into my head.”

Lopez continued to dig a bit deeper asking him if he had sought out the role, and Pattinson replied, “Well, not sought it out directly. But I was interested in it. I don’t know what it is, which happened inside of me, but I was like, “I kind of want to do it.” I like doing something which an audience doesn’t know that it wants, and try to get it out of them: “Oh yeah, you want to play Batman.”

Pattinson admitted it still hasn’t really sunk in and that every time he sees a Batman action figure that he still hasn’t gotten his head around it.

Seeing as he’s going to be filming in a few months, he may want to start trying to wrap around his idea of being an action figure. We know we can’t wait to see them.

The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
