Henry Cavill confirms he has not given up Superman role

One of the biggest question marks going around DC films is whether or not Henry Cavill is still Superman. As far as he is concerned, he is still the last son of Krypton.

Cavill did an extensive interview with Men’s Health in support of Netflix’s The Witcher, and, of course, the topic of Superman came up. It’s understandable with his lack of an appearance in Shazam!, and his taking on a massive series for Netflix, that people would wonder how he could ever have time to put the cape on again. According to him, he’s not going anywhere.

“I’m not just going to sit quietly in the dark as all this stuff is going on,” Cavill said of the mounting rumors. “I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”

Of course, for Cavill to again play Superman, there would need to be a movie in the pipeline for him. As it stands right now, barring a cameo of some form, there have been no discussions of a new Superman movie. That can change at any moment, but for now, it truly is a “you’ll see” moment.

The Witcher will debut on Netflix on Dec. 20.
