UPDATE: Production has begun and the first The Batman set photos have already been shared.
It would seem that filming may be kicking off slightly sooner than reports had indicated for Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
Rumors have been circulating for some time that filming on The Batman would kick off on Jan. 13, but it now seems that the film is shooting as of right now.
First up, Jeffrey Wright – who is playing Commissioner Gordon in The Batman – tweeted that he was up at 4:45am and “off to Gotham.”
Woke up jet lagged at 10pm thinking I was late. 4:45am now. Off to Gotham.🦇

This was later followed up by a tweet from Luiz Fernando who has a track record for accurate information from back during Shazam!. According to his information, The Batman has indeed started production and Wright is filming exterior shots in Central London on Sunday and Monday.
Exactly. Contrary to some reports that #TheBatman would start filming later on this month, the new #MattReeves flick has already started filming, and #CommissionerGordon will be filming this Sunday and Monday in location in Central London, not in a studio. 👀 https://t.co/zsXiwW4j7w

There are no reports as of yet as to whether or not Robert Pattinson has filmed any shots yet. What will be interesting to monitor is if Warner Bros. will release an official photo of Pattinson in the Batsuit before he films any exteriors. As all film buffs know, exterior sets are notorious for costume leaks, and when your first view of a costume is through a grainy telephoto lens, it can backfire on the studio. Our guess is that an official photo is not far off, but that is indeed a guess.
With filming apparently underway, prepare for an onslaught of reports as Matt Reeves finally tackles The Batman.
The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
