Aquaman animated mini-series on the way from James Wan and HBO Max

James Wan appears to be going deep with his involvement with the Aquaman franchise. HBO Max has announced that it is working on an animated Aquaman mini-series with the director.

As we wait for Aquaman 2, it seems Wan is busy with another part of the King of Atlantis’ life. The three-episode mini-series, Aquaman: King of Atlantis, will see Arthur adapting to his role as the leader of the kingdom.

The three episodes will kickoff with Arthur’s first day on the job. He will be behind on what the job requires but he’ll have Vulko and Mera there to help make his way through the minefield of royalty.

The series will be handled by Wan’s Atomic Monster brand. Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!). Victor Courtright (ThunderCats Roar!) and Marly Halpern-Graser (Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) will serve as showrunners and co-executive producers on the project. No word yet on voice actors or a premiere date.
