The Batman reportedly moving to Cardington Sheds on Feb. 12

With filming well underway now on The Batman, it’s time for the production to leave the protection of the Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden. The apparent first stop of other shooting locations will be the Cardington Sheds.

It was first reported back in Dec. that The Batman crew was building a cathedral set in one of the sheds, but nothing was known beyond that at the time. While the cathedral set still hasn’t been confirmed, the fact that the production is moving to the sheds seems to be.

Twitter account Cardington Sheds – a fan account of the sheds and the airfield itself – shared a letter that went out to residents and businesses in the area of the location. While the letter doesn’t name the film exactly, all of the pieces certainly add up to it being The Batman.

Dear Residents/Businesses,

We are currently working on the production of a new Warner Bros feature film. I am writing to inform you that we intend to film at Cardington Hanger 1, Cardington Airfield, Bedford, MK42 0TF, between Wednesday 12th and Thursday 27th February 2020.

All of our filming will take place withing Hanger 1. You may see an increase in large vehicle movement entering and exiting the site in order to facilitate our filming.

The majority of filming is scheduled to take place during daytime hours, although some days filming may extend to around 2100hrs.

Our aim is to cause as little disruption to the neighbourhood as possible. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries or concerns either before or during filming.

Bedford Borough Council have been notified of our proposed filming.

Where some confusion comes from with this letter is with the reports the film will move to Glasgow in late February. True, ending on Feb. 27 would leave the 28th and 29th for the production to move up there. Through the magic of filmmaking, however, there is no indication of this causing a possible conflict. The main unit could move up to Glasgow earlier than the 27th with second unit production continuing in the Hanger 1. We just don’t know how it will play out yet.

What we do know is that with the production moving around, this increases the chances of set photos. The bigger question now is if we’ll see official photos of the Batsuit and Batmobile among other costumes before someone gets them with a long-range camera lens.

The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
