If you enjoyed Hildur Guđnadóttir’s score for Joker, you’re in luck as the music is about to head out on tour.
Following up on the financial success of Joker, and the Golden Globe and BAFTA wins for Guđnadóttir’s score, a concert tour is in the works. According to Deadline, a concert tour of the score is set to launch on April 30 in London. The first performance will be held at London’s Eventim Apollo with Jeff Atmajian conducting. Atmajian orchestrated and conducted the music for the film.
From there the concert will tour the U.K. until July with Dave Mahoney of Senbla conducting.
“I’m thrilled to get to see and hear Joker in the cinema with a live orchestra. When we recorded the music, the orchestra brought such depth and detailed attention to the performances that we were all literally holding our breaths during most of the recording sessions. It was a beautiful trip. I’m so happy to get to go there again and for an audience to experience that too,” Guðnadóttir told Deadline.
Director Todd Phillips added, “I speak for the entire Joker team when I say how thrilled we are to be working with Senbla and Ollie Rosenblatt on Joker – Live in Concert. I think it’s a wonderful way for audiences to experience Hildur Guðnadóttir‘s haunting and immersive score while bearing witness to Joaquin Phoenix’s descent into madness as Arthur.”
After the U.K. tour, shows will be announced for the rest of the world beginning in Europe.
