You aren’t imagining things, theater chains are changing the title of the Birds of Prey movie to Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey.
Following a weaker than expected opening weekend, it seems Warner Bros. has come up with an idea of how to change things up slightly. Instead of simply being called Birds of Prey, or Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, it is now known as Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey.
It would seem this is definitely a marketing move to try to change the perception of the film a bit. With everyone shortening the title to “Birds of Prey,” it’s possible that some people simply didn’t know it was the same character from Suicide Squad.
So far the changes are being found on AMC, Cinemark, and Regal theater chains. As of this writing, Fandango and Atom Tickets are still listing its full original title.
Will it make a difference in the ticket sales? We’ll just have to wait and see what happens this weekend.
