HBO’s upcoming DMZ pilot is moving forward with the addition of two more cast members.
It was announced last Oct. that HBO Max had ordered a pilot for DMZ based on the DC comic series of the same name. The series is being spearheaded by Ava DuVernay and Westworld executive producer Roberto Patino. Rosario Dawson joined the cast in the lead role of Alma in Jan. and now she will have some actors to play off of.
Benjamin Bratt (Doctor Strange) will be playing Parco Delgado, the leader of one of the most powerful gangs in the DMZ. Freddy Miyares (When They See Us) will play Skel, a triggerman in Delgado’s gang who is also an accomplished graffiti artist.
Published by Vertigo, the Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli series was set in the near future after the United States had fallen into a civil war. The island of Manhattan becomes a demilitarized zone between the two sides and becomes isolated from the rest of the world.
As it stands right now, DMZ only has a pilot order, but should HBO Max like what they see, it will move on to a series.
No word as of yet as to when the pilot will film.
