Pennyworth is beefing things up a bit as the Epix series heads into its sophomore season.
Epix launched Pennyworth in 2019 and it follows the man who would eventually become the butler to the Wayne family. The series takes place in an alt-history London that has airships above, and criminals and stockades as secret societies vie for power against the backdrop of the mod movement of the 1960s. As odd as the series could have been, we enjoyed it when we took a look at it last year.
According to Deadline, the series will be adding five new series regulars when season 2 launches in the summer. James Purefoy (The Following, Sex Education), Edward Hogg (Taboo, Harlots), Jessye Romeo (Curfew, In the Long Run), Ramon Tikaram (Brassic, The Victim), and Harriet Slater (Faunutland and the Lost Magic) are all slated for the series.
Purefoy will be playing Captain Gulliver Troy, Alfred’s former SAS Captain. He is said to be a charismatic, cultured brute with appetites for drink, women, and danger.
Hogg will portray Colonel Salt, a would-be despot who hides in a life as an obedient civil servant.
Romeo will play Katie Browning, an idealistic art student.
Tikaram is Inspector Victor Aziz who was a recurring character in season one..
Slater is Sandra Onslow, Alfie’s new on-again-off-again girlfriend.
Jack Bannon returns in the title role along with Emma Paetz, Hainsley Lloyd Bennett, Ryan Fletcher, Dorothy Atkinson and Polly Walker, with Jason Flemyng and featuring multi-award-winning recording artist Paloma Faith.
