As the coronavirus pandemic continues to keep the large majority of us at home, it’s leading a lot of Q&A sessions with moviemakers. Over the weekend, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, one of the writers on Aquaman, took to Twitter to answer some fan questions.

Johnson-McGoldrick, like so many people, are stuck at home. This has allowed him to answer a few fan questions about his upcoming projects. First up was a suggestion of when The Trench film will take place. There have been rumors ranging from it taking place int he past to the current timeframe of Aquaman. It looks as though it will be the latte ras the writer stated, “Theoretically, it takes place between [Auqman] and [Aquaman 2]. But some pieces of this is still being worked out.”

If we were to read between the lines, that sounds a bit like some flashbacks may be on deck.

He was later asked about what we can expect from Aquaman 2, and it sounds like we may seem some classic style storytelling. “We’re not taking any one particular comic book story and adapting it,” he said, “but if you want to know the vibe we’re going for, pick up pretty much any Silver Age story featuring Black Manta.”

The Silver Age was pretty heavy on fighting, so one can easily imagine we’ll see a lot of throwdowns between the two.

The Trench currently doesn’t have a release date while Aquaman 2 is scheduled for Dec. 22, 2022.
