Shazam! 2 is set to be filmed this year, but if that is actually going to happen is a question mark for now thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.
There have been many questions about when Shazam! 2 would film, mainly because of concerns over how fast children age. As recently as Feb., it looked as though filming would move forward in July, but now there are some question marks.
Speaking with ComicBook.com this week, Sandberg was asked if the quarantine was impacting plans to which he replied, “Yeah, I mean, well, we’ll see how long this goes, because I mean, we were going to start shooting this year. But, I mean, who knows how long this will go on? I mean, it feels like every movie gets delayed now, so we’ll see what happens with Shazam!.” He went on to add, “But so far, I’ve been working on the script. We can still do that, so that’s being done and then, yeah, we’ll just see in a couple of months how it looks, you know?”
Will Shazam! 2 film this year? With so many films being delayed already, it seems likely that the start of production will at least be delayed. It totally depends on how much longer the quarantines last around the world. There will then need to be a clearing out of production schedules to get films back on track.
At least we have confirmation that work is moving forward at least in some form throughout all of these close-downs.
