James Gunn has taken to Twitter to answer fan questions, and amongst them is that he doesn’t see a change to The Suicide Squad release date coming.

With films being delayed left, right, and center, it’s fair to wonder if The Suicide Squad may be delayed as well. Despite filming having been completed, it might have been possible, but Gunn confirmed things are looking good at the moment. “Right now there’s no reason for #TheSuicideSquad release date to move,” said Gunn. “We are on or ahead of schedule. We were extremely fortunate to wrap shooting & set up editing from our homes (due to a post production team & studio with foresight) before quarantine.”

Gunn did say earlier, however, that other aspects are being delayed a bit such as marketing. But so long as the film itself is moving forward, it feels as though we can live with a delay in seeing photos and posters.

On a pure speculation side of things, with Gunn mentioning being ahead of schedule on some aspects, could we possibly see The Suicide Squad move up its release date? With all of the delays going on, we’re definitely a tad suspicious of this possibility.

The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
