If you’ve been wondering where the first official The Suicide Squad photo is, it appears we have some time to go before it appears.
James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad lucked out in that it had wrapped filming before all of the coronavirus lockdowns began around the world. Thanks to improved remote working solutions, work is still progressing on the film, but it seems that all marketing is a bit delayed at the moment.
Replying to a Twitter user asking about if we were close to an official photo for the film, Gunn said, “I wish we were but, as you might imagine, although editing #TheSuicideSquad has been pretty smooth in the time of quarantine (I’m working on the cut right now), there are a lot of other factors slowed – some of those related to releasing images, trailers, etc.”

While it’s certainly disappointing to not have anything to look at as of yet, it also makes sense. With all of the departments working from home, communication is sure to be somewhat slower. No matter how many Zoom meetings you may have, there are still a lot of people to sign off on every piece of marketing.
We’ll see official news of The Suicide Squad at some point, it’s just a matter of when.
The Suicide Squad is due to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
