James Gunn has spent some time on social media this weekend answering fan questions about his upcoming film, The Suicide Squad.

Once again Gunn has taken to his Instagram stories to answer fan questions, and he hit on a few relating to the upcoming The Suicide Squad. Everything from the music to which character he enjoyed writing the most.

Gunn was asked what other DC properties he looked at before choosing The Suicide Squad. He still doesn’t reveal the name, but he does discuss why he opted for the ragtag band of villains. “There was only really one other IP I did any work on at all (Just to see how it flowed for me personally).” He went on to add, “Other than that it was just considering if any of them were right for me. [The Suicide Squad] just flowed like nothing before for me.”

The soundtracks for Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 were hits in their own rights. What Gunn plans to do with the music for The Suicide Squad is still a secret, but when asked about the status of it, he stated, “All finished. I love it.”

Once again the question of whether or not The Suicide Squad is a reboot or a sequel will still be hanging over our heads. When asked by a user, “Do I have to watch the first Suicide Squad to understand yours?”, the director replied, “No you don’t.”

Gunn was asked a simple question of “Harley or Joker,” which led to a lengthy reply. “Oh I love the Joker but Harley is one of my favorite characters I’ve ever written. In fact she’s probably my favorite comic character whose personality was well-defined before I wrote her for the screen. She’s an incredible companion to have while writing her insane actions and dialogue! Did I say I LOVED her????”

The Suicide Squad is currently scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
