Patty Jenkins talks The Amazonians and Wonder Woman 3

Warner Bros.

Wonder Woman 1984 hasn’t hit theaters yet, but Patty Jenkins is already looking to the future a bit, and that includes an Amazonians spin-off film.

Jenkins has been sitting with Wonder Woman 1984 for quite a while now as the film has had its release date pushed back multiple times. With the latest delay coming at the last minute,it seems natural that she would already be thinking to the future and where else these films could be going.

It seems that Jenkins has a four movie story arc in mind, but she isn’t quite ready to tackle it just yet. “I’m not going to nail down a fresh thought about it until this movie comes out, because I kind of want to give myself a palette cleanser, and be fresh of mind,” she told Total Film. “But yeah, there’s an arc that I have in mind for the first movie, and then the second movie, and then the Amazon movie, and then the third movie.”

We’ve heard a smattering of rumors about an Amazon-centric film, and that seems as though it could actually be happening. “I’m not going to direct it, hopefully,” Jenkins reportedly said with a smile. “I’m going to try really hard not to. It’s not going to be easy. But [WW84 co-writer and former DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer] Geoff Johns and I came up with the story, and we sold the pitch, and we’re going to get it going. I’ll produce it, for sure.”

There are thousands of years of possible Amazonian stories, so it will be interesting to see where in the timeline this film would be placed.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 14.
