Netflix is jumping into the DC pool with a series order for a live-action adaption of Vertigo’s Sweet Tooth.

The new series has been set up at Netflix with Christian Convery (Beautiful Boy), Nonso Anozie (Game of Thrones), Adeel Akhtar (The Big Sick), and Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth) set to star. James Brolin (Life in Pieces) will serve as the narrator of the series.

The story will follow Gus – a half-human/half-deer hybrid – as he ventures out into the world to find it has been ravaged by a plague. He is not the only hybrid child in the world and he will end up putting together a ragtag collection of friends from humans to more hybrids.

Jim Mickle (Hap and Leonard) and Beth Schwartz (Arrow) will be writing the script as well as serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Team Downey’s Amanda Burrell, Linda Moran, Robert Downey Jr., and Susan Downey will serve as executive producers, while Evan Moore will produce.

This is Team Downey’s second attempt at the series with the production company having shot a pilot for Hulu a few years ago. That version did not move forward.

No word on a potential premiere date for Sweet Tooth as of yet.
