Following massive layoffs and company wide restructuring, DC Comics has confirmed the cancellation of several titles including Teen Titans, Young Justice, Suicide Squad, Hawkman, and John Constantine: Hellblazer. These books join the already confirmed cancellations of Batgirl, Batman and the Outsiders, and Justice League Odyssey alongside the planned conclusions of The Batman’s Grave and Metal Men.
DC Comics’ effort to streamline their comic slate is clearly in full force and while some titles like Aquaman have their fate still up in the air, expect less books to hit the shelves as DC rethinks their publishing strategy. It remains to be seen if DC FanDome will offer more optimism for the comic division’s future plans. Despite these wide scale cancelations and lay offs, Jim Lee assures fans that DC is “still in the business of publishing comics”.
