McFarlane Toys is expanding its DC line with a new sub-series called the Gold Label Collection.
Launching in 2021, the Gold Label Collection will feature new designs for iconic characters, as well as more articulation. The first figure in the series will be a Walmart exclusive in the U.S. and will feature a new Batman design by Todd McFarlane himself.
“Batman has always been my favorite character- excluding Spawn,” said McFarlane. “I’ve always liked the fact that Batman has no superpowers. When it comes down to it, he’s just a dude in a costume trying to combat evil. Conceivably, if Batman were in a huge battle in space, without any of his gadgets and tech, he could potentially die, unlike Superman™. I’ve always had an affinity for Batman, and it’s an honor to design a brand new version of a Batman figure for all fans and collectors.”
The 7-inch Batman will have ‘Ultra Articulation’ made up of 22 moving parts. It will come in two variants – a black cape or a navy blue cape – and Walmart will begin taking preorders later this year. The release date will be in Jan. 2021 and the figure will sell for $19.99.
