In 2010, all Chris Begley wanted was more news about the third film in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Unsatisfied with what was out there he finally took matters into his own hands and launched Batman News over Labor Day weekend.
A decade later The Dark Knight Rises may be in our rearview mirror, but there may have never been a better time to be a Batman fan.
1989 was an astounding time for Batman as the anticipation reached what felt like critical mass. People that had never stepped foot in a comic book store before were suddenly interested in everything to do with the Caped Crusader.
Now, we live in a world where you would be hard-pressed to find anyone on Earth who doesn’t know the story of Bruce Wayne. Try finding someone who can’t name at least two to three actors who have donned the cowl.
Batman is everywhere, and we love it.
How do you know Batman is ubiquitous? We would love to see any other character that is so well known that their city gets its own series. As we enter the second decade of Batman News, even we are blown away by where things stand. We are heading into a few years where we will see Robert Pattinson take on the mantle of the Bat for the first time. Both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will return to their respective takes on Batman to appear in The Flash movie.
Batman is everywhere and it doesn’t look as though he will give up his war on crime any time soon.
While Chris has retired from his days behind the keyboard at Batman News, we’re proud to carry on what he began a decade ago, and look forward to carrying the torch for many years to come.
