It seems that Chris Messina would love to have another chance at playing Victor Zsasz despite how the character ended up in Birds of Prey.
Despite Zsasz meeting an untimely death at the hands of the Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) at the end of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), it seems that Messina wouldn’t be done with him if he had his way.
Messina is promoting his new movie, The Secrets We Keep – the same one Joel Kinnaman happens to be promoting right now – and was asked about his turn as Zsasz by ComicBook.com, saying “I loved playing that character and I love that group of people, that was a ball and something very new to me. I’d love to get another shot at that character, see him in another light. I don’t have any plans to do it, but if they called, I’d go.”
It seems rather unlikely anything would at the moment due to how dead the character is, but this is a realm of comic books after all, so you never know what could happen down the road. And if Birds of Prey taught us anything, it’s that Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) is an unreliable narrator.
Our money is on the concept that Messina won’t get that call, but we wouldn’t be opposed to a bit more Victor Zsasz in the DCEU.
The Secrets We Keep will hit select theaters on Sept. 16, and VOD on Oct. 16.
