HBO Max has finally released some information on its upcoming Green Lantern series, and the fact it is going straight to series.
The upcoming Green Lantern series is slated to focus on Alan Scott, Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, and Simon Baz and we’ll also see Sinestro and Kilowog as some totally new characters.
The lack of Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner certainly leaves plenty of content for films as well.
The series was first announced last year, but things have been fairly quiet since then. We now know the series will move forward with ten one-hour episodes for its first season.
co-written and executive produced by Seth Grahame-Smith (The LEGO Batman Movie) and Marc Guggenheim (Arrow), with the former serving as showrunner. Greg Berlanti and his Berlanti Productions will serve as producers.
HBO Max has been beefing up its DC content in the wake of the news that DC Universe will relaunch as a comics-only service. It has taken in Doom Patrol, Titans, and Harley Quinn as well as moving forward with new series Strange Adventures and Justice League Dark.
It is unknown yet where exactly the Green Lantern series is set as of yet, but the end of Crisis on Infinite Earths hinted at the Lanterns being in a different universe.
No premiere date has been announced as of yet.
