The Batman commences filming in Liverpool

After a seven-month delay, the planned exterior shooting for The Batman has commenced in Liverpool.

Sets were being prepared for The Batman in Liverpool in March when filming had shut down due to the coronavirus. Now the filming is finally taking place, and with that comes some new set photos.

For those of you who prefer to avoid spoilers, we recommend not proceeding.

First and foremost, the photos appear to be for exteriors related to the funeral seen in the Batman trailer.

Photos taken at night made it clearer that at the top of the stairs was a photo of Gotham’s mayor.

Robert Pattinson has been involved in the filming today as well.

But one of the most intriguing things seen on set is what appears to be Riddler gang members. As you may remember in the trailer, a car crashes into the funeral, so this looks like this could be the lead-in to that moment.

The Gotham Action News truck has made a return from the second unit shooting that happened back in January.

It should be noted that this filming is taking place as the U.K. is set to announce new coronavirus measures. Reportedly, Liverpool is going to be put into tier 3 measures as of Wednesday which will see many businesses shutter again as well as new rules on gatherings. There has been no indication as of yet as to what impact this would have on film and TV production, but it is possible The Batman will need to curtail some of its plans. For the time being, this is just speculation.

No schedule has been announced for the Liverpool shoot, so there is no information on how long the film will be using the city.

The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
