Brandon Routh talks if he would return as Superman

Would Brandon Routh ever suit up as Superman again? Of course he would.

Routh made his debut as Superman in 2006’s Superman Returns. While that movie never received a sequel, he got to suit up as the last son of Krypton in 2019 in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover on the CWVerse series.

With his time on Legends of Tomorrow having come to a close, would Routh ever suit up in the Superman cape again? What about in the upcoming The Flash movie which will tough on the multiverse? Speaking with the Geek House Show, Routh said, “That’s always a possibility and, of course, as they’re bringing in Michael Keaton which I’m excited about and some other people from the past DC projects. I think it’s very exciting. It worked really well with Crisis on Infinite Earths and I was proud and honored to be a part of it and to reprise my Superman. So, it’s an absolute possibility, you can do anything. Everybody lives and dies all the time.”

Seeing Routh suit up from time to time as Superman is a fun bit of media, but what about a sequel to Superman Returns? Routh addressed that, saying, “The intention was to do a sequel, always to do, with a big tentpole movie like that. They want to make more as long as they feel like they’ve recouped the money that they invested into the film.” He went on to add, “At the end of the day, the studio, Warner Brothers, decided it was too much of a gamble for them to do a sequel. The creative entities, the writers and the directors were on to other things. Certain people at the studio who were excited about Superman had left to go on to other projects at other studios. So, it was both the passion and the interest in Superman dissipated and the movie, I guess for them, didn’t bring back enough monetary success for them to pull the trigger on it.”

Could Routh make an appearance in The Flash movie? We’re not going to say “no” simply based on the fact who thought Ben Affleck would be suiting back up for it?
